Our Model to Success

Programs with Real-World Applications

Tech-Knowledge Learning Centers, Inc. (TKLC) will provide programs that can be applied to real-world situations. Examples are developing PSAs for U-Tube, using software to compile databases for career exploration, and preparing e-portfolios to showcase learners' talents for successful jobs.

More importantly, TKLC's programs are designed to utilize computers as a mindtool to promote higher-order thinking and problem solving.

Engaging Parents

TKLC will offer a Parent's Engagement Program (PEP) that will provide a venue for bringing parents and TKLC knowledge providers together. The program seeks to furnish parents with the computer skills to support children's homework assistance and career development needs. Parents will be presented with applicable career-related information and resources from speakers who are expert in a range of career development topics. Parents will learn about TILP program activities through children's presentations, galleries of e-portfolios, and other demonstrations of projects in progress.

Engaging the Community

TKLC will solicit regional community stakeholders for the purpose of financing and conducting program operations. TKLC's Partners in Program (PIP) will consist of individuals, associations, businesses, and organizations in the community that support the TKLC mission.

Career Development

Our Career Development Programs (CDP) will integrate computer technology in building career literacy for students and adults. CDP activities will occur concurrently with TILP one day per week (two 3-hour sessions). CDP activities are 3-week events utilizing the Internet for Web-based research and collaboration.

Students will assemble an electronic portfolio of document and information related to their skills, achievements, and interests. In addition, they will complete a cover letter and résumé to potential employers.

At the end of each session, students will develop self-knowledge about career preferences and work requirements. Information compiled by individual students will be consolidated into a database of company names, addressees, educational requirements, employment opportunities, college information, and financial data.
